Do you feel an irritating sensation in the ears?

This irritation many a times, many is due to clogging in ears. It may do not have anything with our hearing ability. It is simply blockage in the ear canal. The symptoms which are related to the plugged ears are the individual’s hearing capacity is reduced to some extent, a popping sensation in the ears, windy type sound in the ears and a mucus type feeling in the ears. This is all due to blockage of Eustachian tube which many don’t open or close properly and equalize the pressure between the middle ear and outside atmosphere pressure. The causes of the plugged ears are wax build-up in ears, cold, or sinus problem, air blockages, etc., can affect the hearing. It is observed in all age groups. Sometime plugged ears can be painful too.

The common triggers of plugged ears are ear wax, blocked nose, cold, allergy, changes in atmospheric pressure, blockage in the Eustachian tubes, and accumulation of water within the ear.

Tea tree oil treatment for ear infections

Tea tree oil is rich in anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and anti-microbial. This helps to cure ear infection. The antibacterial and anti-viral properties of tea tree oil helps for sinus infection and other nasal or respiratory infections. Take a few drops of tea tree oil and 1 glass of boiling water. Add a few drops of tea tree oil in a glass of boiling water. Mix them well. Tilt your head over the glass and allow the steam to enter your ear. This process helps to provide instant relief. Alternatively, take a few drops of tea tree oil and add them with warm olive oil. Mix them well. Using a dropper insert a little into the ear. This makes the trapped mucus drain out of the Eustachian tubes. Thus, it will help to decongest the sinus.

Natural homemade ear wax solution

Take ¼ to ½ cup of warm water and add a few drops of glycerin or mineral oil. Mix all the ingredients well and stir it well. Make sure to lie down on your side with a clogged ear set upwards. Now, pour the solution into the ear by using a utensil of your choice. Let them dry out for about 10 minutes. Tilt the head on the other side to drain out the solution from your ear. Gently pull your ear lobe down to drain out the solution completely. Repeat it 3 times a day for better results.

Hydrogen peroxide treatment for plugged ears

Hydrogen peroxide is the best and most effective home remedy to clear the earwax. But, don’t overuse it. Take 2 – 4 drops of hydrogen peroxide by using a dropper. Drop it into the affected ear. You hear a fizzing sound within a few minutes. This helps to dissolve the wax. Leave it for about 10 minutes. Now, tilt the head in the opposite direction and allow the solution and earwax to drain out. Using a washcloth, clean your ear after the ear wax is completely removed. Repeat it 2 – 3 times if needed.

Valsalva maneuver to clear clogged ear

Plugged ears are get rid of by the performance of Valsalva maneuver. It will help in relieving the stuffiness and even reduce the pain in ears.

Close the mouth and at the nostrils pinch over and closed with fingers and then take a deep breath. Try this by blowing out of nose that will help in regulation of the air pressure in the body. If it has been properly observed, then a popping sound is heard which indicate that the Eustachian tubes are open now.

Water flush to get rid of clogged ears

Water flush is the best home remedy with warm water. Get an ear syringe and fill it with lukewarm water. But make sure that it is not too hot. Tilt your head with the affected ear up and pull on the ear lobe gently to open the ear canal. Carefully position the syringe inside the ear canal that aims to more toward the back of your head instead of straight in. Avoid hitting the ear drum with too much pressure. Then, gently squeeze the syringe to squirt the water into the ear canal. Notice that some wax may dislodge immediately. Leave it for 5 – 10 minutes, so that warm water can soften the earwax. Tilt your head in the opposite direction and let the water drain out.

Olive oil  to clear sinus congestion

If there is a build-up of wax inside the ears, olive oil is best recommended remedy suitable. It will help in softening of the earwax and is easily it can be removed.

Take some pure olive oil. Take a clean dropper and drop little lukewarm olive oil on the affected ear. Allow it to settle for almost 10 to 15 minutes, so that ear wax holds to soften. If you apply olive oil to keep your head sideways, then remove the oil and even the earwax with ear buds. Try this carefully as it may cause damage too. Even baby oil or any other mineral oil is the best recommendation when dealt with plugged ears.

Ways to clear clogged ears with alcohol and apple cider vinegar

If the plugged ears are due to any type of bacterial infection, so destroy it you can even use the combined form of alcohol and apple cider vinegar.

Take alcohol and apple cider vinegar in equal amount and mix them properly. Lie down, sideways and then with the help of a clean dropper, put the drops in the ears. To avoid the mixture from spilling, then place cotton balls in the ear and prevent the raising of the head. Then, take rest for almost five to ten minutes and allow the mixture in performing its activity. Remove the earwax with ear buds. Repeat the same with the other ear.

Warm compress for ear blockage

A warm compress is a vast and a natural type of treatment which will help in getting rid of clogged ears, which are usually caused due to cold and sinus congestions. The heat expelled from the warm compress with help in loosening the congestion, unclog the ear and it will ease the pain too. This is an easy home remedy.

Take a clean cloth and dip it in warm water, remove the excess water and then take the cloth over the affected ear for almost 10 to 15 minutes. This will reduce the pain and even help in fluid drainage from the ears.

Garlic to treat blocked ears

Garlic is the best effective natural antibiotic to cure plugged ears.  Garlic is rich and strong with anti-bacterial property that helps to clear infection in the ear. Use garlic oil that helps to prevent infection, but apply warm oil that will give you complete relief from blocked ears. Take 2 – 4 garlic cloves and peel the skin. Crush them and add the oil of your choice, such as olive oil or mustard oil or sesame oil of 1 tablespoon into it. Heat for a few minutes and allow it to cool down. Lie on your side and pour the oil into the blocked ear. Use a cotton pad that the oil can stay for two minutes. Allow the fluid to drain out of the ear and repeat it regularly. You can also use salt instead of oil that helps to absorb the water from the ear.

Steam to prevent plugged ears

Inhalation of steam is another simplest and best treatment that will help in getting rid of the plugged ears that are clogged due to sinus congestion. The steam will loosen the mucus and that will help in relieving the clogged ears. This is the best method use by many individuals.

Take a hot steaming water in a large bowl. You can even add lavender oil or tea tree oil for better treatment. Cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam from it slowly till the clogged ears open. Even a shower of hot water can be taken for almost 10 minutes for relief from plugged ears.
