How to make sweet Jangri / Imarti recipe

Jangri is popular dessert in Andhra. It is prepared with sugar syrup and jaggery syrup. It is easy to prepare so let us learn how to make this jangri..


  • Rice flour- 2 spoons
  • Urad dhal / black gram- 2 cups
  • Sugar- 4cups
  • Ghee as needed
  • Saffron colour- pinch


Step 1: Take a bowl, add sugar and water. Boil it for 20min at low flame.

Step 2: Heat till the syrup turns into thick liquid and off the flame.

Step 3: Soak urad dhal for 1hr in water and drain them from water.

Step 4: Using grinder, grind urad dhal into thick batter.

Step 5: Add rice flour to batter and stir it well without any lumps.

Step 6: Add saffron color to the batter and mix it well.

Step 7: Take a thick cloth in square shape and keep small hole at the center of it.

Step 8: Keep the wet dough in cloth.

Step 9: Heat ghee in a pan till it smokes.

Step 10: Now press the cloth that contains batter in circular shape.

Step 11: Let the jangri fry in ghee for 2min at low flame.

Step 12: Dip the jangri in sugar syrup for 5min.

Step 13: Repeat the process and serve jangri in plate.
