How to prepare Mla dosa/ pesarattu with green grams

Mla dosa is also known as pesarattu. It is famous south indian breakfast. Mla dosa/pesarattu is prepared using green gram, it contain high amount of proteins. Mla dosa/pesarattu has delicious taste prepared easily at home. Mla dosa/pesarattu is preferred to eat along with upma for good taste. MLA dosa/pesarattu is the perfect combination with coconut chutney and ginger chutney.


  • Green gram- 2 cups
  • Rice and besan gram- 1/4cup
  • Chopped ginger- 1 spoon
  • Cumin seeds- 1 spoon
  • Green chilli- 2 medium size
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil- ¼ cup

For topping:

Chopped onions- ¼ cup

Chopped green chilli-1/4 cup

Cumin seeds- 2 spoons


Step 1: Soak green gram in water over night.

Step 2: Add small amount of rice and besan gram to green gram let them soak combinedly.

Step 3: Next day, clean green gram thoroughly.

Step 4: Using grinder, mix all the ingredients green gram, green chili, ginger and cumin seeds and make it into thick paste.

Step 5: To prepare mla dosa, add some water and salt to the wet flour. Mix it well.

Step 6: In medium flame, using small bowl rotate wet flour in circular motion on non-stick pan.

Step 7: Pour some oil over edges, sprinkle onions, green chili and cumin seeds. Leave it for 30 sec.

Step 8: Serve hot mla dosa along with coconut chutney or ginger chutney.
