Human skin is divided into different types in accordance with their effects. They may be classified as -:
- Normal skin
- Sensitive skin
- Oily skin
- Dry skin
- Combination skin
Sensitive skin refers to the skin type which is subject to irritation, itching using cosmetics and make up. Sensitive skin involves irritation, itching, burning, stinging, redness, etc. Person having such type of skin is unable to use so many products and cosmetics as they do not suit to their skin. Here is a list of some homemade remedies for sensitive skin in order to get a beautiful skin without any reaction.
Honey contains antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties which is very useful for sensitive skin. It will not toned and moisturise skin by natural way. Take some quantity of honey, cocoa powder, milk and coconut oil and mix them all together. Apply this pack as scrub or face pack and leave it on face for 20 minutes. Then wash it off with Luke warm water. This pack works as a great effective scrub as well as face pack for sensitive skin.
Aloe vera gel
Aloe Vera gel consists of vitamin-E which helps to reduce redness and itchiness of skin. It is best suited for sensitive skin. Take a fresh leaf of Aloe Vera plant and cut it. Squeeze out its gel and apply it directly on your skin and leave it for whole night. This is a best natural remedy for sensitive skin.
According to dermatologist, milk is a best product for sensitive skin. It contains anti-inflammatory properties which help to reduce redness, irritation and dryness of skin. Foe sensitive skin, milk can be used as a best natural cleanser. You can also prepare face pack by mixing ½ tablespoon gram floor, honey, rose water and milk all together. Then apply this pack to your face and neck and wash it after 15 minutes with lukewarm water. It works as best face pack for the glow of sensitive skin.
Green tea contains of antioxidants which keeps the skin fresh and young looking. Take some green tea leaves and boil it. Then strain out the boiled liquid and wait for its cooling. Add 2 drops honey to it and apply this texture on your face with a cotton ball. Let it dry on your face and then wash it off with normal water. You can use this twice a week for the best result.
We use mango only to eat. But it is also very useful for sensitive skin. It is full of nutrition which helps our skin to glow by natural way. Take one tablespoon of mango pulp with 1 tablespoon of sugar and rub it on your face. Then take another tablespoon of mango pulp with adding argon oil to it and gently apply this on skin. Leave it to dry for 15-20 min and then wash it off with Luke warm water.
Haldi or turmeric is the best antiseptic remedy which suits very skin type. As it has no reaction, you can use it for sensitive skin. Take 1 spoon of Haldi with few drops of honey and 2 tablespoon of milk. Mix them all together and gently apply as a pack on face. Let it dry on your face and then rinse it thoroughly.
Coconut oil deeply nourishing and moisturizing the skin. Take 1Lliter coconut oil and boil it with the crushed peppercorns, 4 dried Indian gooseberries, 10 curry leaves and handful of henna leaves. Keep boiling it about 10 to 12 minutes. When it starts to give a nice aroma take the flame off and let it be cool. Store this oil and use it daily to massage your skin. It will give your sensitive skin a natural glow and fresh look.
An overripe banana is very useful for sensitive skin as it moisturises and nourishes the skin. It is much helpful in ridding of dead skin cells. Take an overripe banana and mash it. Add 2 tablespoon curd and 1 tablespoon honey to it. Mix them well apply this mixture on face and after 15 minutes rinse it thoroughly. It will not let your skin be dry and itchy.
Rose water is a natural astringent. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-septic properties. It helps in balancing the acidic levels of the skin. Over the ages, rose water is considered to be the best toner. By using rose water regularly, wrinkles can be avoided, it adds a glow to the skin.
- Moise a cotton swab with rose water, dab your face with it.
- Sprinkle rose water on your face before going to bed, you can do this daily.
- Take a shower adding rose water or rose petalsin the water.
Exfoliate your skin
Exfoliate your skin on a weekly basis. It helps removing the dead cells on the skin. Exfoliating also helps in removing the black heads and reduces the recurrence too.
Use fruit masks such as strawberries, papaya, oatmeal, sugar and honey scrub. The natural scrubs are a safe bet anytime and effective too. The only thing is that, you need to take out time and be patient. Rome was not built in a day, likewise, if a remedy is ought to be done twice a week, follow it blindly.
Cucumber is an excellent cooling agent.
It is either taken in salads or applied to the skin, any option works well. You can make cucumber pulp and apply it to the face and neck. Leave it for 10 minutes, wash off with normal water. Extract cucumber juice, take 2 tablespoons of this and add 1 tablespoon honey. Mix it well and apply it to the face and neck. This gives a good nourishment to the skin.
Lemon is rich in vitamin C, it purges toxins from your blood. It has sensitive skin and you can have a glass of lemon water per day helps you in sensitive skin. It also helps you to keep the skin glowing and free from acne, blemishes, wrinkles, and other skin problems. Take a fresh lemon and squeeze the juice from ½ lemon into a glass of lukewarm water. If you want, you can add a little raw honey and drink it on an empty stomach every day. Wait for 30 minutes and then have your breakfast. Drink water throughout the day at regular intervals to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized from within. It also helps to flush out toxins present in your body.
Oatmeal face pack works better for sensitive skin accompanied by oiliness. Apply oatmeal that will help to remove extra shine and oil to your skin. Take oatmeal and grind them. Add an egg yolk into it. Mix them well in a bowl. Apply this paste on your face and leave it for about 15 – 20 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Apply a light mild lotion to moisturize your skin.
Rose clay mask
Rose clay mask is good way to pamper sensitive skin. They contain oils, and moisturizers. They help your skin to clean and moisturize your skin. Prepare a mask by mixing 2 tablespoon of avocado oil, 1 tablespoon of rose clay, 1 drop of chamomile essential oil, 1 drop of rose essential oil. Mix them well for form a thick paste. Apply this paste on your face and let it dry. Apply it using a brush or spatula to your entire face. Wash it off with lukewarm water.
Chocolate face mask
Chocolate face mask helps your skin to glow and works better for sensitive skin. Chocolates help to reduce fine lines, scars, and protect the skin from the harmful effect of sun ray and pollution. Take 5 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 4 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of mashed avocado, and 3 teaspoons of maize powder. Mix them well to form a thick paste. Apply this paste on your face and leave it for about 10 -15 minutes. Then rinse it off with warm water.
Apart from all these, what we eat is important for a sensitive skin. You need to take a balanced diet. It has to be a mix of Vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, proteins, and monounsaturated fats. Drink a lot of water and fruit juices. Ensure that you stay hydrated.
