Celebrate the Independence Day with our sweet recipes. India is a land of numerous cultures and various kinds of food specialties. Celebrate the spirit of freedom by trying these delectable sweet recipes. I am presenting you the healthy and sweet recipes which bring more sweetness to the day. Usually we use to celebrate this freedom day with lot of chocolates and sweets. So why can’t you prepare the sweets at home instead of buying outside? I have given different types of laddos / laddus which are mostly prepared in these occasions.
When I want to eat sweets the first sweet item that strike in my mind is laddo or laddu. This is the popular sweet item often made during festive season. There are lots of recipes showing you the procedures and list but my recipes are quite different. Check the ingredients list and gather items. Enjoy the freedom celebrations with sweet recipes.
Carrot laddo / laddu
Carrot laddo or laddu attracts the persons who are having sweet tooth because it will melt in our mouths. Bright colored carrots with crispy almonds give a fantastic texture. Whatever the occasion may be it would be perfect for any occasion. Grated carrot is added to make it tastier and healthier. It is extremely easy to prepare. Enjoy preparing this sweet on independence day.
- Carrot grate – 2cups
- Ghee – ½ cup
- Sugar – ¾ cup
- Kova – ½ cup
- Semolina or bombayi rava – 3tbsp
- Elachi powder – ½ tbsp
- Fried cashews – 50grms
How to prepare Carrot laddo / laddu
Step 1: Add ghee to the thick pan and heat it in a low flame.
Step 2: Now add carrot grate into the hot ghee and fry it nicely by stirring slowly.
Step 3: After 10 mins add semolina or bombayi rava into the fried carrot grate.
Step 4: Fry both ingredients for 10 mins.
Step 5: Now add remaining ingredients sugar, kova, elachi powder and fried cashews to the mixture.
Step 6: Mix all the ingredients. You can observe sugar melting while stirring the ingredients.
Step 7: The mixture gets sticky in nature. Turn off the flame.
Step 8: Collect the mixture into a bowl. Let it get cool for some time.
Step 9: Apply ghee to your both arms and take a few mixture to hands.
Step 10: Start making small size balls like laddos with this mixture.
Step 11: Continue doing the same with remaining mixture also.
Tasty laddus are ready to eat now. Enjoy the Independence Day with this special carrot laddu.
Wheat flour and besan flour laddus / laddos
Wheat and besan flour laddus or laddos are ease to prepare at home because the ingredients which are used in making of laddos are available mostly at home. Best thing lies in stirring the ingredients and adding required sugar. Make this Independence Day still tastier with our cool recipe.
- Semolina or bombayi rava – ½ cup
- Wheat flour – ½ cup
- Besan aata – 1 cup
- Ghee – 1 cup
- Sugar – 2 ½ cup
- Elachi powder – ½ tbsp
- Chopped almonds – ¼ cup
How to make Wheat flour and besan flour laddus / laddos
Step 1: Take a thick pan add 4 tbsp of ghee to it and keep on stove with low flame.
Step 2: Ghee gets melted and becomes hot.
Step 3: Add semolina or bombayi rava to the hot ghee and fry it by continuous stirring.
Step 4: Collect the rava into a bowl and keep a side.
Step 5: In the same pan add 4 tbsp of ghee and fry the wheat flour as the same like semolina.
Step 6: Take the fried flour into a bowl and keep a side.
Step 6: As the same way add ghee and fry the besan aata and keep a side.
Step 7: Take wide vessel and put fried besan aata, semolina and wheat flour.
Step 8: Mix all these together.
Step 9: Now take sugar into a jar and grind it into a fine dry powder.
Step 10: Add this sugar powder into the wide vessel which contains all the mixture.
Step 11: Mix all ingredients nicely. Now add elachi powder and chopped almonds into the mixture.
Step 12: Add the remaining ghee into the mixture simultaneously make the laddus or laddos with the mixture.
Tasty Wheat flour and besan flour laddus / laddos are ready to eat now.
Kesar malai laddus or laddos
This is one of the popular Indian sweet prepared with paneer grate. Look at the ingredients list, they consists of vitamins and rich proteins. It is best prepared on any festival or any special occasions like Independence Day.
- Paneer grate– 2 cups
- Butter – 1 cup
- Sugar powder – 1 cup
- Food color – 1 pinch
- Cashew nuts – 2 tbsp
- Pistachios – 10
- Elachi powder – 1tbsp
How to cook Kesar malai laddus or laddos
Step 1: Take a pan and keep it on stove. Heat it on slow flame.
Step 2: Add butter to the pan and allow it to melt.
Step 3: Add food color to the butter.
Step 4: Take paneer grate and add to the pan. Stir it nicely so that the mixture gets stronger.
Step 5: Collect the mixture into a bowl and allow getting cool for 10 mins.
Step 6: After that add sugar powder, elachi powder, cashew and pistachios to the mixture containing bowl.
Step 7: Mix all the ingredients.
Step 8: Start making laddus or laddos with this mixture.
Tasty kesar malai is ready to eat now. Garnish the laddus or laddos with pistachios. Chop them nicely and decorate the sweet. It taste good and melts in the mouth smoothly.
Methi masala laddo or laddus
Methi masala laddu is a traditional recipe which is healthier and Ayurvedic medicine sweet. It is best given to the mother after delivery. Methi masala laddo is best used to cure joint pains and back pains during winter season. It is also prepared in the special occasion like festivals.
- Fenugreek seeds – ¾ cup
- Milk – 2 ½ cup
- Wheat flour – 2 cups
- Ghee – 1 ½ cup
- Gond katira (available in market)– ½ cup
- Almonds – 3
- Black pepper – 10
- Cumin seeds powder – 2tbsp
- Soamp – 2tbsp
- Elachi powder – 1tbsp
- Cinnamon stick powder – 1tbsp
- Nutmeg powder (jaji kaya)- ½ tbsp
- Sugar or Jaggery – 1 ½ cup
How to prepare Methi masala laddo or laddus
Step 1: Clean the fenugreek seeds and keep it in hot sun for 1 day.
Step 2: Grind that seeds and make it a fine powder.
Step 3: Take the milk in vessel and boil it nicely.
Step 4: Turn off the flame and add fenugreek powder into the milk.
Step 5: Soak it for minimum 8 hours.
Step 6: Better do the steps 1- 5 one day before itself.
Step 7: Chop the almond pieces and keep a side. Same way make black pepper powder.
Step 8: Take a pan and add ½ cup ghee to it and heat it in low flame.
Step 9: Now add soaked fenugreek powder paste into the ghee and fry it nicely.
Step 10: You can observe the light brown color shade while frying the paste.
Step 11: Turn off the flame. Now take other pan add ghee to it. Allow the ghee to get melt.
Step 12: Add gond to the ghee and fry it. Collect the gond into bowl.
Step 13: In the same pan add wheat flour and fry it till the dry smell goes out. Collect and keep a side.
Step 14: Add 1 tbsp of ghee to the pan and fry the jaggery.
Step 15: You can observe the jaggery melting slowly. It will form a thick liquid.
Step 16: Liquid starts getting stronger immediately add fenugreek paste, gond, almond pieces, black pepper powder, cinnamon stick powder, soamp, nutmeg powder and wheat flour to the liquid pakam.
Step 17: Stir nicely by avoiding lumps. If will form a thick paste.
Step 18: Apply ghee to your both arms and start making laddus or laddos with this paste.
Tasty methi masala laddu is ready to eat now. Garnish the laddus with pistachios or chiraunji or with dry fruits for more taste.
