No moisture in the hair and rough texture of hair gives a dry and dead look to our hair. When the outer layer is damaged, the hair becomes dull and damaged. The sebaceous glands produce natural oil to the hair follicles. Over a period of time, due to the usage of chlorinated water, or swimming, hair driers, the natural oil secretion gets almost nil and hence the problem of dryness develops. Other causes such as exposure to the sun, use of too hot water while washing your hair. Thus, it causes ones’ hair dry and brittle. Medical conditions, heredity, cuticle damage, malnutrition can also be a reason for dry looking hair. Dry hair looks like dry grass straw. Home remedies for dry hair naturally

Olive oil for smooth & shiny hair

Olive oil is rich in Vitamin E, also has antioxidant that helps in repairing the damage caused to the hair. Following the below procedure once a week gives you good results.

Take a cup of olive oil and heat it.

Massage your scalp and the hair from the tip to the end with this oil.

Soak a turkey towel in hot water, squeeze it properly and cover your hair with the towel for 30 minutes.

Preferably better to do this before bedtime, so that you can leave oiled hair overnight and wash it the next day morning.

Wash with a mild shampoo next day morning.

Avocado to treat damaged hair

Avocado consists of saturated fats, Vitamins A and E, protein. The minerals in avocado help you to protect you from dry and damaged hair. It helps to add moisture to dry shafts that strengthen your hair. Take one ripe avocado and peel it off. Mash it into smooth paste and add one teaspoon of wheat germ oil and jojoba oil to get a smooth fine paste. Apply this paste on your freshly washed hair from roots to the ends. Cover your hair with a shower cap or a plastic cover. Leave it for about 30 minutes and then shampoo your hair with lukewarm water. Repeat it twice a week.

Egg for hair damaging

Egg is a very effective conditioner for dry hair. The protein, lecithin present in the egg helps in repairing the damaged dry hair. It also gives shine to the hair, and turns the dry hair into softer texture. You can repeat this procedure twice a week.

Whip one egg white with fine foam, also add 2 tablespoons of warm water while whipping.

Apply this mixture to the hair, massage with your fingertips in few minutes.

Bananas to treat split ends

Bananas are rich in potassium. It helps in treating the dry texture of hair. Bananas also prevent split ends. Applying Banana mask helps in repairing hair and turns the texture into smooth and shiny.

Mash one over ripe banana and apply it all over the hair. Keep the hair mask for an hour and wash it with lukewarm water.

Alternatively, add one tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of honey to the mashed banana. Apply this hair mask to your hair and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash your hair with lukewarm water. This will solve the problem of dry hair easily.

Aloe Vera herbal treatment for hair

Aloe Vera is an herbal plant and has lots of medicinal value with respect to beauty. It is excellent for hair, but also good for the skin. It has enzymes that directly impact the hair growth.

Apply aloe vera juice or the gel on the scalp. Leave it for a few hours and rinse off the lukewarm water. Consuming aloe vera gel is also good. Mix a teaspoon of gel to warm water and consume it. This is a wonderful solution to put an end to the problem of dry hair.

Honey for silky hair

Honey is antiseptic and good for health and hair. Honey helps you to trap moisture in your hair and makes your hair soft, silky, shiny and nourished. Take one-half cup of honey and apply it on washed, damp hair. Massage it on your scalp and cover it with a shower cap. Leave it for about 30 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. Repeat it twice a week for best results.

Hibiscus as a natural conditioner

The hibiscus is a natural conditioner for hair.

Take about 5 flowers and prepare a paste of hibiscus flowers by grinding them, add this to a cup of coconut oil and heat it for some time, add 4 teaspoons of sesame oil. Mix it thoroughly. Massage your hair every day with this mixture.

Pumpkin for hair protection

Pumpkin acts as a natural conditioner for hair, it has moisturizing properties.

Slice a few pieces of pumpkin, boil it and mash it.

Make a fine paste and add yogurt to it, mix it well.

Apply this to the hair and keep it for 20 minutes, wash off with a mild shampoo.

Alternatively, consuming pumpkin juice also cures the dry hair problem. For taste, you can add honey and make the juice.

Sesame oil protects your hair

Sesame oil is rich in nutrients and emollient properties. It protects from dryness and damaged hair. It has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral properties to prevent hair loss. Mix 2 – 3 teaspoons of sesame oil with grated ginger. Massage it on your scalp for about 5 – 10 minutes. Wrap your hair in a warm towel and leave it for about 10 – 15 minutes. Shampoo your hair as usual with a mild shampoo. Do it once in a week.

Castor oil to prevent dry hair

Castor oil is an excellent resource of oil to the hair. It not only cures the dry hair, but also enhances the growth of it.

Massage your hair with castor oil every night and wash off the next day morning with the shampoo.

Vinegar to treat dry hair

Vinegar helps to remove you from built up residue and left by shampoos. It is one the main cause of dry hair. Vinegar helps to restore the natural pH level of the scalp. It also prevents itching and dandruff that protects you from dry hair. Mix one-half cup of vinegar with one cup of water. Use the solution to rinse your hair after washing it. Leave it to sit on your scalp and hair for about 10 minutes. Rinse it well with water. Do this once in a week.

Best home remedy for dry hair as hot oil massage

Choose the best hot oil that well suits for your hair. Choose coconut, almond and olive oil, which best suits for your hair. Depending upon hair length, take out the required amount of oil into a bowl. Heat the oil and warm it up, but not piping hot oil. Take a little warm oil on your palm. Rub it on other palm. Apply this oil to your scalp. Take it off and apply this to other areas of the scalp. Gently massage your fingertips with warm oil that can deeply absorb into your hair. Massage them to avoid breaking. Gently massage your hair and scalp with warm oil. This gives a nourishment and improves proper blood circulation to this area of your body. Massage it off with 15 minutes and leave it for 2 hours. If possible, leave it overnight for best results. Wash it off your hair using a mild shampoo and condition them. Repeat it 2 -3 times a week for better results.

Fenugreek for dry hair

Fenugreek seeds are good for dry hair. This is inexpensive used by Ayurveda that treats various diseases due to medicinal components. This helps to treat dull, dry hair to rejuvenate by fenugreek seeds. This is rich in nicotin acid, potassium, amino acids, protein, niacin, Vitamin C and diosgenin which has properties of oestrogen. Fenugreek seeds are rich lecithin, which is a natural emollient and hydrates your hair that makes them healthy and strong at the same time. Fenugreek treats dandruff, which is less natural and is best used remedy. Take 2-4 tablespoons as per lengthy hair. Take 1- 2 yogurt tablespoons. Soak fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Grind them in soaked fenugreek seeds to form a paste. Mix yogurt with fenugreek seeds paste. Mix it well and leave it off half an hour. Wash it off with a mild shampoo. Repeat it once a week instantly for every 3 – 4 weeks.

All these remedies discussed above are age old remedies. These are tried and tested over a period of time and a lot of old generation people swear that this really does wonders, as the new generation barely has time and patience to do all of this.
