Our skin is one of the most important parts of our body as it protects us from external elements like pollution and harmful UV rays, internal elements like the food we eat, lack of sleep etc. So our job is to help our skin handle these challenges, as we all want to look our best. We tend to use a number of skin creams available in the market which claim to make the skin glow in one or two weeks, however continuous use of such products without any doctor’s consultation can be harmful. So here you have a few tips and tricks to achieve that desired brightness on your face.
Facial masks for instant brightness
Egg and almond mask: Mix an egg with almond paste. Apply this on your face and rinse off after 20 minutes.
Peach and brandy mask: Mash a peach and mix it with a teaspoon of brandy. Apply this mixture on your face and rinse off after 20 minutes.
Carrot and honey mask: Boil 2-3 carrots and mash them. Add 2-3 teaspoons of honey and mix them well. Apply this mixture on your face for 10 minutes and wash off.
Pumpkin mask: Cook and mash a piece of pumpkin. Mix it with 2 teaspoons of honey and ¼ spoon of raw milk. Apply this mixture on your face for 10-15 minutes and wash off.
Nutmeg mask: Mix 2 teaspoons of oatmeal powder with a mashed banana, 4 teaspoons raw milk, a pinch of nutmeg and 2 teaspoons of wheat flour. Blend all the ingredients well and apply it on your face for 10-15 minutes before washing it off.
Aloe vera and glycerin mask: Mix a little aloe vera gel with 2 teaspoons of glycerin. Dab this mixture evenly on your face and wash off after 15 minutes.
Orange and curd mask: Mix a teaspoon of orange juice with 2 teaspoons of either milk or curd. Massage this preparation on your face in circular motion and wash off with cold water.
Cucumber mask: Apply grated cucumber or cucumber juice on your face and around your eyes for 15 minutes. Wash off to experience bright skin.
Milk and honey mask: Mix a teaspoon of milk with half a teaspoon of honey and apply it on your face and neck. Wash off after 15 minutes.
Almond mask: Soak almonds in milk and make a fine paste out of it. Apply this paste on your face and wash off after 15 minutes.
Gram flour face mask: Mix a tablespoon of gram flour with a teaspoon each of lime juice and turmeric powder. Make a fine paste using rose water and leave it on your face until dry. Wash off with cold water.
Banana mask: Blend half a banana, one egg white and a tablespoon of curd to make a fine paste. Apply on your face and wash off after 15 minutes.
Honey and lemon mask: Mix equal amount of honey and lemon juice. Apply this mixture for 15 minutes and wash off.
Water melon face mask: Mix 2 tablespoons each of watermelon and cucumber juice with 1 teaspoon each of yogurt and milk powder to make a fine paste. Apply this preparation on your face for 15 minutes and wash off.
Breadcrumbs mask: Mix bread crumbs with milk, cream and soak for some time until it softens. Apply this mixture for 15 minutes and wash off.
Oatmeal mask: Mix 2 tablespoons each of oatmeal powder and yogurt with 1 tablespoon tomato juice. Apply it on your face for 20 minutes and wash off with cold water.
Potato mask: Mix potato and tomato juice in equal quantities. Apply this mixture for 15 minutes and wash off.
Orange peel mask: Mix dried orange peel powder with curd and apply it on your face for 15 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.
Rice mask: Soak 2 tablespoons of rice in milk and grind it coarsely. Apply this scrub on alternate days for best results.
Jasmine flower mask: Crush fresh jasmine flowers with curd and sugar to make a fine paste. Apply this mix for 15 minutes and wash off.
Healthy food for glowing skin
Along with the mentioned face masks it is also very important to consume healthy food to obtain a glowing skin from within. Here is a quick list of food you can count upon.
- Papaya, carrot and green leafy vegetables are rich in Vitamin A.
- Lime, orange, guava and spinach are rich sources of Vitamin C.
- Whole grains, cereals, almonds and walnuts are rich in Vitamin E.
- Banana is rich in iron, magnesium and potassium.
Avoid junk food, processed food, fried food and cold beverages. Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water every day. Have adequate sleep, at least 6-7 hours of sound sleep. Exercise daily and maintain a balanced diet.
Precautions to maintain the glow in your face
- Cleansing: Practice a cleansing routine daily to get rid of pollution and dust particles that accumulate on your skin during the day.
- Exfoliation: Using a good scrub at least twice a week helps in removing dead cells from your skin.
- Do not use cosmetics, creams and makeup tools which are very old.
- Try not to share your cosmetics with others, in order to avoid contamination.
- Never forget to remove any traces of makeup from your face before going to bed.
