Home remedies for eyelid cysts (chalazion)

Eyelid cyst in medical terms is called as chalazion and is the smallest type of lump that may be under the skin of eyelid this is due to the blocked oil gland. It can either be on lower as well as upper eyelid. It may be not contagious many times and is many types observed in adults as well as children. It has a hard lump as well as swelling that may spread on different area around the eyes and may cause irritation and pain. If it is infected, then it may get swollen, red and painful. Warm compress treatment for eyelid cyst

Take a soft cloth and dip it in hot water and then remove the excess water from it. Hold it and close your eyelids. Then, apply it on your eyelids, for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Try this thrice a day for positive results.

Parsley water removes eyelid cysts

Parsley helps to draw out toxic materials from eyelid cysts. It acts as antibacterial agent that fights against infections. Take a handful of fresh parsley in a bowl and pour a cup of boiling water over it. Allow it to cool for some time and dip a clean wash cloth in this water. Wring out the excess water and place this warm, moist cloth over the affected area for about 15 minutes. Repeat this 3 times a day for a week.

Massage on the affected eyelids

Guava leaves help to reduce swelling and pink eyes

Another best remedy that is used for eyelid cysts is guava leaves. The leaves comprise of anti-inflammatory properties which help in reduction of swelling and even pink. It has natural healing property which help in speedy recovery.

Take 5 to 6 guava leaves and wash it properly. Warm the leaves in the microwave for a few minutes. Place one warm leaf in clean cloth and put it on the swollen area on the eyelid. If leaf cools down again replace the leaf with another. Try this twice a day for better results.

Natural Aloe vera gel treats chalazion

Aloe vera gel is an effective treatment for eyelid cysts. It has anti-inflammatory property that helps to reduce redness, swelling, and inflammation. It has antibacterial properties that help to fight infection. Take out the fresh aloe vera gel and apply it directly on the affected area. Leave it for about 15 – 20 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. Repeat it few times daily for about a week.

Another method is just soaking a cotton ball in a fresh aloe vera gel for 5 minutes. Apply that cotton ball on the cyst and allow it to stay for 20 minutes. Again reapply for every 2 hours a day. Repeat it for a week for better results.

Apple cider vinegar relieves from pain

The use of apple cider vinegar can be best recommended remedy for the eyelid cysts as it has anti-inflammatory as well as antiseptic property which help with pain as well as inflammation reduction which may fight against infection.

You should take 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of hot water. Soak a cotton ball in the solution and then apply on affected area for about a minute or two. Try this remedy thrice a day for a week.

Another method, mix a tablespoon of unfiltered apple cider vinegar in a cup of water. Drink this twice daily for a few weeks.

Coriander seeds reduces red eye and pain

Coriander seeds have anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce redness, pain and swelling. Take one teaspoon of coriander seeds in a cup of water and boil it. Remove the solution from heat and let it cool down. Now strain the solution and use it to rinse the affected eye area. Repeat it 2 – 3 times a day until you get relief.

Castor oil treats eyelid cysts

Castor oil can be best as it comprises of anti-inflammatory properties that help in the reduction of pain as well as inflammation which is mainly related with the eyelid. It helps in bringing off the swelling back to normal and heals the eyelid soon.

You should take a warm compress and apply it on the eyelid for 5 minutes. Then, using a cotton ball applies the warm compress on the eyelid. Try this remedy twice a day for a week or two for positive results.


You should take a teaspoon of turmeric powder with enough amount of castor oil to make a paste of it. Wash the eyes properly and then apply the paste on the affected area. Leave it for about 15 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. Try this thrice a day for getting healed from eyelid cysts.

Acacia leaves reduce swelling

Acacia leaves have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce swelling and pain of chalazion cysts. Take acacia leaves and wash them. Take 2 cups of water and add acacia leaves into it. Boil the mixture and let it cool down. When the mixture is warm, remove all the leaves and dip a piece of clean cloth into that solution. Use that warm compress on the affected area. Repeat it few times a day for several days.
