Anemia is a decrease in your blood cell count, which is decrease hemoglobin content in the blood. Red blood cells are responsible for carrying oxygen to the cells via the hemoglobin, a lower amount, would mean low oxygen in all your body’s tissues. There are many people across the globe who always complain of suffering from weakness, dizziness, etc. This all may be due to a condition when there occurs less count in body’s red blood cells as compared to normal. Red blood cells comprise of hemoglobin, which an iron based protein that helps in carrying oxygen. There is a decrease in red blood cell production, excessive blood loss. There are different types of anemia depending on the causes. Women and people who are suffering from chronic disorders are likely to have anemia. Beetroot can be highly beneficial for the treatment of anemia, which is due to deficiency of iron. It comprises of high iron content and also fiber, calcium, potassium, sulphur and even vitamins. It also provides nutrition and increases the supply of oxygen to the body. It also increases the red blood cell count. Beetroot helps in cleansing action of body blood.

Take a medium size beet-root, carrots and sweet potato, blend them in juicer. Drink this juice daily. You can even intake beet-root as a vegetable and in salads too. Eat the peel too with beet-root as it is very much beneficial and comprise of high nutritional value.

Black strap Molasses

Black strap molasses are called as a nutritional powerhouse of the body which is the best herb for anemic patients. It has a good source of iron as well as vitamin B and even other minerals too, that will help in increasing the red blood cells.

Take a tablespoon of black molasses which comprise of 15 % iron that is required for body in a day. Take one tablespoon of blackstrap molasses in a cup of hot water or even milk. Mix it properly and drink it one daily. It is a highly beneficial drink.

OR Combination of two teaspoons of black strap molasses and apple cider vinegar in a cup of water is best. Drink this once daily for a week. It will help in enriching iron content in the body.


If a person intake green leafy vegetables like spinach in diet, this can be best home remedy for treatment of anemia as well as vitamin B12 and folic acid.

Intake spinach, which is rich in iron source. Make spinach soup twice a day. Mix two teaspoons of honey in a glass of fresh spinach juice. Try this once daily continuously for a month.


It is a very rich source of iron and even minerals such as calcium and magnesium. It comprises of vitamin C that help in the improvement of the body’s absorption of iron. It helps in increasing red blood cells and even the hemoglobin level.

Take a cup of pomegranate juice, add cinnamon powder to it and even honey. Try this daily with breakfast.


Take two teaspoons of dried pomegranate seed powder in a glass of warm milk one or two times daily.


You can intake a medium-size of pomegranate every morning on an empty stomach, which will be the most beneficial remedy.

Sesame Seeds

Sesame seeds are best in treatment of anemia, which is due to low iron content in the body. It comprises of special component that enrich iron source, red blood cells as well as hemoglobin too. One fourth cup of sesame seeds will help in getting 30 % of iron that is required by the body every day.

Take two tablespoons of black sesame seed in water for almost two to three hour dip in the water. Strain and make paste of soaked seeds. Add one tablespoon of honey and mix well. Have this mixture twice daily.
OR You can soak the black sesame seed in water for almost two to three hours. Drain the water out and make paste of soaked seeds, and add it to a cup of hot milk. You can even add honey to it as per taste.

Green leafy vegetables

Regular consumption of jaggery into tea or coffee or even breakfast cereal or sprinkle a pinch of powder jaggery into rasam, samabar, dal benefits to give better health. Also, prepare desserts like Payasam or Kheer using sugar can be replaced with jaggery syrup to benefit the iron it contains.

Fruits rich in Vitamin C

Vitamin C plays an important role in the absorption of iron from the gastrointestinal tract. Make sure to get enough of this vitamin by eating more of citrus fruits like oranges, strawberries, kiwi fruit and grapefruit. Add a dash lemon juice to your salads and curries to get the benefit of the vitamin C it contains.


Apple is a rich source of nutrients that include iron that helps a lot in treating anemia. Eat at least one apple daily and it is better to opt for green apples and eat them with their skin. If you want, you can also mix equal parts of fresh apple juice and beet-root juice and a little honey. Drink this juice twice daily.
