Effective home remedies for sunburn treatment

Milk to prevent suntan 

Milk is one of the available items to use and treat mild sunburns. Milk is gently applied on the skin and is used to straight from the carton. Unless you don’t have allergy, you can strong aversion to dairy products, there’s no reason why you can’t avail of its benefits as soon as you realize with the affected area. Rinse your face, hands and other affected parts of the body with plain water. Slightly apply some milk by taking a cup of cold milk in a bowl and leave it for about 5 minutes. If you don’t like the smell, then you can add 3 – 5 drops of lavender or peppermint essential oil. Mix them well and apply it by dipping a cotton pad in the milk. Gently apply it on the inflamed area. Let it dry on the skin and this will form a layer that seals the moisture in. Skimmed milk is best and is full with fat milk and can feel too oily. Rinse the milk on the skin after a few hours and repeat the process for better results. This is the best home remedy and gives immediate relief.

Cold water to cure sunburn

You can reduce the inflammation and get significant relief from the pain of sunburn blisters by using cold compresses on the affected skin area. Soak a towel in cold water and squeeze out the extra water. Keep the towel on the affected area. Repeat the treatment several times to get relief from the burning feeling. Never apply ice directly on the sunburn blisters this will make the condition worse. Use cool water for some days to take bath.

Aloe vera for sun blisters

Aloe vera herb consists of 99% of water and the rest of the 1% is composed of about 150 minerals and trace elements like vitamins, sodium, calcium, manganese, magnesium, copper, chrome, zinc, selenium, germanium, potassium, iron, tannins and amino acids. Cut a fresh aloe vera leaf down the middle to remove the gel. Apply the gel on the sunburn blisters and allow it to dry and be absorbed by the skin.

Vinegar to protect your skin from the sun

Apple cider vinegar acts as an astringent for sunburn. It also helps in balancing the pH levels of our burned skin, which means it will balance the acidity v/s alkalinity of your skin. Soak a cloth in apple cider vinegar. Keep this cloth on sunburned skin. You may feel instant relief from that stinging sensation. Leave it for 2 minutes. Moisturize your skin with coconut oil after your skin gets dry by applying vinegar.

Add a cup of apple cider vinegar to the tub of your bath water. Mix equal parts of water and vinegar. Spray this mixture on sunburned skin multiple times a day.

Yogurt to treat sunburn fast

Yogurt is rich in probiotics and enzymes that helps to heal our skin. This is best to find yourself red and sunburned. Thus, it helps you to recover faster. So, make sure it’s truly plain yogurt, not vanilla, and that it has probiotics. Take ½ cup of plain yogurt and treat your face burns. You may feel free to use more if you want to cover them more area. Rinse your hands and apply cool yogurt directly on your burn. Leave it for at least 5 minutes. This helps to reduce pain and gently rinse it off with cool or tepid water.

Coconut oil to heal sunburn

Coconut oil is used as a sunblock and healing agent. Lauric acid and fatty acid present in coconut oil seems to be beneficial ingredients. Take some coconut oil and rub on your sunburn skin. Within few minutes it will relieve the stinging and burning sensations and within some hours it may also reduce the redness and swelling of your sunburned skin.

Wait for about at least one day before you apply coconut oil on your sunburned skin, first treat with water.

Turmeric to protect from sun tan

Turmeric has antiseptic as well as healing properties. Mix turmeric powder with some water to make a paste and apply it over the affected skin, leave it for 10 minutes. Another way is to make a thick paste out of turmeric, barley and yogurt. Apply it over the sunburn skin and leave it about 30 minutes and then wash it with cold water. Repeat it daily until they are gone.

Tomato sunburn natural cure

The red juicy vegetable is rich in lycopene, a powerful antioxidant, which seems to grant the much required cooling effect to your burned skin. Not only does tomatoes cool and soothe your burning skin, the vitamins A and C in them help replenish your skin too. Grind the tomatoes, extract juice out of them. Add yogurt into that juice and leave it for 15 -20 minutes and then wash off. Repeat 2-3 times a day.

Potato to get cool skin

Raw potatoes help to cool the skin and reduce the pain. Rinse one raw potato thoroughly and cut it into thick slices. Blind them to make a paste. Apply the paste on sunburn skin and allow it to dry and then wash off with cold water. Repeat the process daily.

Tea to get rid of sunburn 

Freshly brewed tea from tea leaves are solid at room temperature. Thus, can soothe skin and take away the burning sensation. This is rich in polyphenolic compound like tannins, catechins and epicatechin. The tea is rich in antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This also has anticancer properties against several types of cancers that includes skin cancer. This helps to protect from DNA damage from sun exposure, leads and causes skin cancer. Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil and add 5 tablespoons of tea leaves and can remove from heat. Use 5 tea bags of unflavored tea instead. Keep them covered for about 30 minutes and drain the solution. Dilute it with 4 cups of ice cold water and soak a cotton bottle to spray evenly on the affected areas. Repeat it often for best results.

Cucumber to treat sunburn

Cucumber can cool the body. Make a paste of cucumber and apply it directly on the affected skin.  This will cool off the skin and make healing easier. Eating cucumbers will help to cool the body.

Baking soda sunburn treatment

Baking soda will soothe the burned skin as it is alkaline in nature. Add 1-2 cups of baking soda to your bath water. If only some areas are affected apply a paste of baking soda with water. Avoid this remedy if you have open sunburns.
