How to cook banana flower curry

Banana is a flowering plant used for recipe. Banana contain high amount of potassium, calorie. It also contains carbohydrates, fibre, vitamins and magnesium. Banana plant is grown in southern region and most of the people prefer to plant tree at home. There are different varieties in banana. The raw banana is used to cook curries, banana chips.


  • Banana flower (fresh, chopped)- 2 cups
  • Chopped onion- ½ cup
  • Chopped green chilli- 2 spoons
  • Turmeric powder- ¼ spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil -4 spoons
  • Ginger and garlic paste- 1 spoon
  • Curry leaves- 1 spring
  • Fenugreek seeds- ¼ spoon
  • Cashew nuts- 10
  • Cinnamon, cloves – ¼ spoon
  • Jeera- ½ spoon
  • Ground nut/ peanut- ¼ cup
  • Butter milk- 3 cups


Step 1: Soak chopped banana flower in butter milk for some time.

Step 2: Take a non-stick pan; heat 1 spoon of oil and fry cashew nuts, ground nuts, jeera, fenugreek seeds, cinnamon and cloves.

Step 3: After the temperatures reduces, grind them in a mixer.

Step 4: Take a pan, heat three spoons of oil.

Step 5: Fry onions, green chilli and curry leaves.

Step 6: Add ginger and garlic paste to the mix.

Step 7:  Add some salt to taste, turmeric powder and chilli powder to recipe.

Step 8: Drain the banana flower from butter milk and add to recipe.

Step 9: Add ½ cup of water and place a lid on pan.

Step 10: After 5min add the roasted powder to the curry and boil it for 10min.

Step 11: Now off the flame and serve the recipe.
