Let us learn how to cook the famous pepper rasam in Andhra style. Pepper rasam is also called as miriyala charu in telugu. The main ingredients of pepper rasam are pepper, garlic and cumin seeds. These play a major role in adding flavour to pepper rasam. Health benefits of pepper rasam are it improves indigestion and reduces heat in your body.
- Cooking oil- 2 spoons
- Water- 3 cups
- Dried red chilli- 3
- Black pepper- ½ spoon
- Curry leaves- 1 spring
- Mustard seeds-1 spoon
- cumin seeds-1 spoon
- Turmeric powder- pinch
- Garlic pods-4
- Tamarind paste- 2 spoons
- Salt to taste
- Coriander seeds- ½ spoon
- Fenugreek seeds- ¼ spoon
- Coriander leaves- ¼ cup
- Rasam powder(cumin seeds, coriander, black pepper)- 2 spoon
Step 1: Take a kadai, heat the oil.
Step 2: Add red chillies, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, mustard seeds and some black pepper and cumin seeds. Fry them
Step 3: Add water, turmeric, salt , smashed tomato and tamarind paste.
Step 4: Let them boil. Leave it for 15min on medium flame.
Step 5: Using mixer, mix the ingredients garlic, coriander, cumin seeds, black pepper into fine powder.
Step 6: Add this rasam powder to rasam and off the flame.
Step 7: Garnish pepper rasam with coriander leaves.
Step 8: serve the hot and spicy rasam with rice.
