How to make Lotus kheer at home

Lotus kheer is prepared with dried lotus seeds. It is very delicious recipe with cardamom flavour. It is very simple and easy to prepare at home. Let us learn how to make this lotus kheer at home.


  • Lotus seeds- 1 cup
  • Condensed milk- ¼ cup
  • Milk – 4 cups
  • Kesar- ¼ spoon
  • Ghee- 1/2cup
  • Sugar-2cups

For toppings:

  • Chopped almonds- 2 spoons
  • Chopped raisins- 2 spoons
  • Cardamom powder- 1 spoon
  • Chopped pistachio- 1 spoon
  • Cashew nuts chopped- 1 spoon
  • Chopped chironji seeds- 1 spoon


Step 1: Take a pan, without any oil fry lotus seeds till they become crispy.

Step 2: Later off the flame and keep aside till temperature reduces.

Step 3: Grind seeds into fine powder and keep aside.

Step 4: At low flame, take a pan add sugar, cardamom powder and lotus seeds powder and stir it well.

Step 5: After some time add milk and stir it well.

Step 6: Add condensed milk, cook it till it turns into thick liquid.

Step 7: Heat ghee in a pan fry almonds, cashew, raisins, chironji and pistachio at low flame.

Step 8: Add toppings to kheer and cook it for 5min.

Step 9: Sprinkle kesar and serve the hot lotus kheer in a bowl.
