How to make semolina cakes / rava cakes

Semolina cake is almond flavoured dessert. It is easy and simple to prepare at home. Now let us learn the recipe of semolina cakes.


  • Semolina / Rava- 2cups
  • Sugar- 3cups
  • Water- 2cups
  • Rose water- 2 spoons
  • Milk- 1cup
  • Egg- 2
  • Lemon juice- 1 spoon
  • Butter- 150gms
  • Baking powder- 1 spoon
  • Plain flour- 1 cup
  • Grated coconut- 2cups
  • Vanilla or almond essence- ½ spoon
  • Saffron- ½ spoon
  • Almonds- ¼ cup
  • Ghee- 3spoons


Step 1:  Heat ghee in a pan fry semolina (rava) and grated coconut.

Step 2: Off the flame and keep aside till temperature reduces.

Step 3: Take semolina and coconut mixture in a bowl.

Step 4: Add plain flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder and mix it well.

Step 5: Add butter, egg, saffron milk, vanilla or almond essence and mix it well.

Step 6: Make the mixture into smooth dough and place in plate.

Step 7: Level it evenly and bake the mixture in oven for 40min at 180 degrees centigrade.

Step 8: On other side, take a pan add 2cups of sugar and 2cups of water boil them.

Step 9: Add lemon juice and rose water in sugar syrup mix it well.

Step 10: Cut the baked rava cake into pieces and place cashew or almonds.

Step 11: Pour sugar syrup on cakes and put in oven for 10min.

Step 12: Serve the semolina cakes on plate.
