Homemade natural hair dye recipes

Easily available hair dye in the market is more scrutiny due to the toxic nature of some of the chemicals used. Even though, nowadays you can also see some natural herbal hair dye instead of chemical ones to get colored your hair. There are some natural processes that will help you to reduce white or grey hair at home. The recipes at homemade herbal hair dye are easy to make and has many advantages to make your own hair products without any chemicals. This is a great option for women and men also. As it’s a common problem for both.

Tips for preparing natural herbal hair dyes

Black tea rinse to darken any shade

Black tea prepared at home gives temporary darkening to your hair. Take 3 heaping tablespoons of loose black tea leaves, and add them into 3 cups of boiling water. Mix them well and then steep the solution of black tea leaves in the boiling water and let for about 30 minutes. Shampoo your hair normally. Pour the black tea mixture over your hair for about 15 – 20 times. Leave the final rinse of black tea on your hair for about 10 minutes. Rinse it off with clean and warm water.

Chamomile and Calendula rinse for blonds

This hair pack gives brighten dull blond hair locks and it also helps to stop any extra streaks caused by UV exposure. Take half a cup of fresh or dried chamomile flowers, mix it with ½ cup of fresh or dried Calendula, and 1 quart of water. Boil the water in a non-aluminum pan. Add the chamomile and Calendula into that water. Remove it from stove and allow the herbs to steep in water for 30 minutes. After that, strain the solution and allow it to cool. Store this in a refrigerated jar for further use. You should wash your hair normally, pat it dry with a towel. Pour or spray the water onto your hair. Leave it for about 15 – 30 minutes. Rinse it off with water to stay still. You can also use other yellow flowered herbs such as saffron or turmeric for long hair. You should use a full cup of flowers in that mixture.

Natural hair dyes with beet-root and carrot juice 

Beet-root is good for health as well as used for hair dye. This is a natural hair product to color your hair. Take ½ cup of carrot juice and ½ cup of beet-root juice. Mix them well and wash your hair with this solution. Leave the solution on your hair for about 1 hour and sit in the sun. Then you will get hair condition.

Sage and rosemary rinse for brunettes

Sage and rosewater can darken your hair with the repeated use of them. They also give natural highlights of some red tones in the hair. You can take 2 cups of fresh or dried sage and 1 to ½ cup of fresh or dried rosemary, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and required amount of water to cover it. Place the herbs in a non-aluminum pan and cover it with water. Bring them a boil and reduce the heat. Leave the solution like that until it boil for about 6 hours, and now check the solution frequently to ensure the water that does not boil away. If you want, you can add more water as needed. Finally, strain the herbs and allow the mixture to cool. Add apple cider vinegar into that herb. Use this solution to rinse your hair and make sure to use this solution after shampooing only.

Cherry bark and black tea, natural hair dye

A homemade hair coloring gives you black or brown hair. Take 1/3 cup of cherry bark, 3 bags of black tea, and 3 cups of water. Boil the water and then add tea and cherry bark. Let us simmer it for about 20 minutes. Let it cool down and strain the solution. Shampoo your hair and lets pour the mixture over your hair for better results. Gently apply throughout as a final rinse.

Walnut rinse for brunettes

Walnut hulls are very effective to darken hair. So, take 2 tablespoons of crushed black walnut hulls, 3 cups of water, tea ball. Place the crushed black walnut hulls in the tea ball and steep it in 3 cups of boiling water overnight. Shampoo your hair as usual. Rinse your hair for about 10 to 15 times with the walnut mixture.

Henna powder for red hair

Henna powder is used for brunettes, whereas brunettes are nothing but women with red colored hair. Henna can add light or dark shades to both red and brown hair. Take 200 grams of henna powder, 2 cups of lemon juice, and saran wrap. Mix henna and lemon juice in a non-metal bowl. Allow the mixture to sit for four to six hours in that bowl. Leave it until it thickens slightly. Apply the mixture to your hair and comb through evenly. Then, pile your hair on your head by just wrapping in saran wrap. Leave if for 2 – 3 hours. Then rinse it off with water.

Henna hair dye for brown reddish and black hair

The henna is a natural hair color that gives nourishes and conditions your hair. Henna is a natural herbal dye tried to get black and brown reddish hair color. This also gives a soft, smooth, shining, and no damaged hair. You can also enjoy with a perfect hair color that is absolutely natural. Prepare a thick mixture of henna hair powder in a thick brew, just like as a muddy paste. Apply it on your hair and leave it for 3 – 4 hours. If you want, you can also add essential oils, vinegar, egg white, into the henna mixture which also results best.

Graying blonde hair dye with rhubarb root

The root Rhubarb is the potent hair dye which can restore with a golden sheen for hair graying blonde strands. Take 3 tablespoons of rhubarb root in 2 cups of water. Boil the solution and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Leave the solution and let it cool down. Leave it overnight and then strain the solution. Pour the solution on your hair in the next day. This dye gives a beautiful hair color with natural dye.

Kitchen spices for dark brown shade

The easily available kitchen spices such as allspice and cinnamon gives medium to dark brown hair color shade on your hair strands. Take 1 teaspoon of each allspice and cinnamon. Add a ½ teaspoon of cloves into it and add this mixture into a cup of water. Finally, strain the solution to separate species. Pour this mixture on over your hair and rinse it off with water and then with shampoo after some time.
