Painful breast is more common nowadays, more than almost half of the women experience such pain. Breast tenderness, isn’t normal for a girl or a woman, serious treatment should be done, in order to avoid future problems. There are two types of tenderness, of breast observed in women: Cyclic tenderness and Non-cyclic breast tenderness. Gynecologist considers that cyclic tenderness are many a times normal, they are mainly due to cyclic hormonal changes (Menstrual cycle).

While the non-cyclic breast tenderness is observed in one third of women. They complain that they always have pain in almost only a small part of the breast. Ice packs to treat breast tenderness

Ice pack helps to relieve from breast pain. This helps to use an ice pack that treats a cold temperature. The ice packs will numb the tender area that will reduce swelling and pain.

How to use it?

Take a few ice cubes and place them in a plastic bag. Wrap them in a clean and wash cloth. Apply this ice pack your breasts. Gently apply it for about 10 minutes. Repeat the process for a few times and then you will feel better. Instead of cold compress, you can also use a warm compress. Thus, by alternating them warm and cold compress can reduce the swelling and tenderness.

Flax seed natural treatment for breast pain

Flax seed is considered to be the best source of some of phytoestrogens. Many doctors advice to take flax seed to avoid breast tenderness especially during pregnancy.

How to use it?

Flax seeds should be blended and kept in an airtight container and preserved for a week in the refrigerator and can be added to special dishes like smoothies, vegetable and different types of fruit salads, and even to whole grain, paste can be applied.

Note – Don’t cook the flax seed. 

Castor oil to deal with breast pain

Castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid. It has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. This helps to relieve from breast pain. Thus, castor oil can increase blood circulation as it is rich in nutrients that reach the cells. The waste products and inflammatory factors are removed from the body.

How to use it?

Take 1 tablespoon of castor oil and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix them well and gently massage it all over your breasts. Repeat it daily for a week prior to your period.

Green vegetables to get rid of sore breast

Try to consume as much green vegetables as you can to get rid of sore breast as soon as possible. Green vegetables contain special chemicals which  detoxify the estrogen and the fiber present in green vegetables helps you to clear out the estrogen from the body before its absorption process starts. 

How to use it?

Consume at least one meal of green vegetables to cure sore breast.

Apple cider vinegar best home remedy for sore breasts

Apple cider vinegar helps to reduce breast pain. This helps to remove toxins from the body. Vinegar reduces water retention and helps in regulating hormones. This helps in the reduction of breast tenderness and pain.

How to use it?

Take 1 – 2 teaspoons of raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Mix it in a glass of warm water. Mix them well and add a little amount of honey into it. Mix them well. Drink this solution twice a day for better results. This helps to reduce breast pain.


Take care that you do not go through any iodine deficiency. So take care of it. Sodium increases the water retention, which causes the breast swelling. Take care of your salt intake, especially before two to three days before periods.

In the normal diet, take care of the salt intake in the food you take as it is necessary to have proper iodine and sodium concentration in the body.

Vitamin E treatment for breast tenderness

Vitamin E helps to treat breast pain and regulates in hormonal changes in the body. This in turn reduces breast pain and premenstrual symptoms. Include a diet that is rich in Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C and Vitamin E that reduce alleviate the pain in breasts.

How to use it?

Take a daily dose of 200 – 400 IUs of Vitamin E. This helps to prevent breast pain and can reduce breast tenderness, even during menstruation. But, it is recommended better to consult your doctor for correct dosage. Eat more food that is rich in Vitamin E, like sunflower seeds, almonds, olive oil, spinach, avocados, turnips and beet greens that are mustard greens. Gently massage your breasts for a few times a day.

Dandelion to cure breast tenderness

Dandelion has medicinal value and consist of many active pharmacological compounds. It is an herbal medicine to treat infections of livers, bile and is diuretic. Dandelion leaves contain abundant minerals and important vitamins like vitamin A, C and K and are best sources of phosphorous, calcium, manganese and even iron which help in curing of sore breast.

How to use it?

Being a natural diuretic. It can be consumed as powdered form by making a tea. Or Mix two to three teaspoons of dandelion powder in a glass full of water for 15 minutes. Three cups of mixture per day can help you to get rid of sore breast and reduce the pain of it too much extent.

Evening primrose for itchy and sore breast

The evening primrose oil contains essential fatty acids, which balance the hormonal changes in women and is mainly useful in cyclic breast treatment rather than non-cyclic breast tenderness.

Chasteberry for severe breast pain

Chasteberry is an herb that helps to treat cyclical mastalgia. This has another symptom such as PMS. The herb has some positive effect that has on the pituitary gland to suppress the release of prolactin. Thus, a hormone is responsible for PMS symptoms that include tender and painful breasts.

How to use it?

The typical dose that is for dry Chasteberry extract is with 20 mg, 1 – 3 times a day. Take Chasteberry as a liquid extract and add 40 drops into a glass of water. Cabbage leaves to reduce pain in breast

Cabbage leaves reduce the pain caused due to sore breast.

Take the cabbage leaves and apply directly to the swollen parts of the breast and tie it with a piece of cloth for a few hours. You will observe a great reduction in pain and itchiness caused due to sore breast.
