Drink Water

Keep your eyes moist

The body doesn’t properly produce tears due to its chronic condition. Try to sit far away from heat sources. It is better to use artificial tears or a humidifier to alleviate dryness.

Home based tips for skin care around the eyes

Lime juice and cold water

Mix 4 teaspoons of lime juice with 1 cup of ice water. Dip a cotton pad in it and place it on the eyelids for 10-15 mins. It works good for strained eyes.

Lime juice and tomato juice

Mix 1 teaspoon of tomato juice with half teaspoon lime juice. Massage gently around the darkened areas and let it remain for 30mins.Wash it off with cold water. Repeat it weekly thrice for bright and sparkling eyes.

Cold milk

Dip a cotton wool in cold milk and place it on the eyes for 10mins. It gives relief from strained and reddish eyes.

Almond oil and honey

Mix 1/2 teaspoon of honey with a ½ teaspoon of almond oil. Apply it around the eyes before bed. Try this weekly, twice for visible result.

Tea decoction

Take 2 tablespoons of tea decoction and put it in the fridge for 1/2 hour. Dip cotton balls in it and keep it on your eyes. Relax for 20 minutes. Try this twice a week for relief from strained eyes.


Apply the juice or paste of nutmeg (Jaji Kaya, jathiphala) around the eyes. Leave it for 10 mins.Repeat this for 10-15 days. It works effectively with the people suffering with insomnia (Nidra Lemi).

Tea leaves and ice cubes

Take 3 teaspoons of boiled tea leaves and mashed ice cubes in a cloth. Place the cloth on the eyes and relax for 10mins.This gives good relaxation for strained eyes.


Dip a cotton wool in rose water and place it on eyelids. Relax for 5 mins. It results best for burning eyes.


Grate a raw potato in a cloth and place it on the eyes. Relax for 10 mins to get relief from puffy eyes.
